文の骨格は That is the reason（それがその理由だ）というシンプルなSVCです。そこに関係副詞 why が導く節が「reason」を後ろから修飾しています。
③ つまづきポイントを一つずつ解剖
ポイント１：関係副詞 why とは何か？
関係副詞は、接続詞＋副詞 の働きを同時にこなす言葉です。why の場合、もとの2文を見るとわかりやすくなります。
① That is the reason.
② He quit the job for the reason.
→ 共通する「for the reason」の部分を why に置き換え、後ろにつなぐ。
That is the reason why he quit the job.
why は「for which」と言い換えることもでき、That is the reason for which he quit the job. も同じ意味になります。
ポイント２：why は先行詞 reason とセットで使う

関係副詞
why の先行詞はほぼ reason（理由） 一択です。where（場所）や when（時）と違い、why が使える先行詞の幅はとても狭い。先行詞が reason なら why、と覚えておくと確実です。
ポイント３：関係副詞は「副詞句の代わり」
関係代名詞は節の中で名詞の代わりになりますが、関係副詞は節の中で副詞句の代わりになります。

the reason why he quit the job ← why は「for the reason」という副詞句の代わり。節の中が完全な文として成立する。節の中（he quit the job）がSVOで完結しているかどうかを確認するのが、関係副詞かどうかを判断するポイントです。
④ もう一度全体を読む
That is the reason why he quit the job.
それが彼が仕事を辞めた理由だ。
That is the reason でまず「それがその理由だ」と据えて、why he quit the job が「どんな理由か」を説明する。読む順番と日本語の語順が近いので、構造がつかめると読みやすい文です。
